Here, in the Bay of Jouan, Napoleon landed on the coast on March 1, 1815, after leaving the island of Elba. This event is commemorated by monuments such as the mosaic in the port, the plaque on the Avenue de Station (Avenue du Gare), and the sculptural belted portrait of the Emperor crowning the column in the Square Nabonard.
Golfe-Juan is a coastal strip of spacious bay bounded by Juan-les-Pins and Cannes. Quays, wharves capable of accommodating over 800 boats, as well as stores, restaurants, beaches, not to mention the Maritime Theatre, all characterize the city as a dynamic tourism center of the Cote d’Azur. The French seaport of Golfe-Juan is well protected from winds, areas of the sea surface are reserved for sailing, the coast has fine sand beaches and places for bathing and diving (the underwater grotto Yue, more than 27 meters deep).
