Villeneuve-Loubet

Villeneuve-Loubet

The town of Villeneuve Loubet is located at the end of the Wolf’s Gorge by the walls of a medieval castle, which ends with a high pentagonal tower 33 meters high. In 1538, the Treaty of Nice was signed in Villeneuve.

The city is the birthplace of Auguste Escoffier (1846 — 1935), "the royal chef and king of cooks. In the house where the famous citizen of the town was born, there is a museum of culinary art. The museum displays collections of recipes compiled by the famous chef, as well as an entertaining collection of cooking utensils and books. A low-roofed cellar showcases a collection celebrating the finest wines of Provence.

The exhibition of the Museum of Military Affairs tells the story of the armed conflicts of the 20th century. For lovers of the military art, there is an opportunity to see collections of weapons and military uniforms of different branches of the army.

On the coast there is a tourist complex Marina (in the Bay of Angels). Its quaintly shaped buildings stand next to the water amusement station. The complex was built in the 1970s, designed by architect André Minangoy.
